Another cousin of former Interior Affairs Minister Saimir Tahiri is being searched by Italian authorities as part of his brother-led gang, Moses Habilaj, put in handcuffs yesterday in Italy.
In the 416-page file of Italian authorities, there are reportedly four Albanians declared on the run as members of the criminal gang dealing with international drug trafficking from Albania to Italy. Florian Habilaj, Sabudin Chelya and Armando Sule and Nezar Saiti.
Meanwhile, a day earlier in Italy, 7 persons, 4 Italians and three Albanians were arrested, including the gang's capo, Moses Habilaj. He is a distant cousin to former Prime Minister Tahiri, while in environmental surveillance made to Habilaj, he mentions Tahiri as his cousin who supported him in traffic and owed 30 thousand euros. The other two Albanians arrested from Italy are Maridian Sulaj and Fatmir Minaj.
In a statement to the media today by Kuevdi's leadership, Saimir Tahiri, deputy in Albania's Parliament, pleaded innocent and clarified that with Habilja he is a 10th cousin, but that there is nothing to do with criminal activity where they claim their involvement.
The name mentioned in the wiretaps according to Tahiri is as two criminals can say political names to boast in front of each other. Tahiri urged the prosecution to investigate it until the end, even though he did not give up the deputy post, which gives him immunity in the face of the investigation.
