Discussions concerning Kosovo's membership in the World Trade Organisation (OBT) had begun since 2007, Koha Ditore writes today.
However, even after ten years, Kosovo has not yet submitted formal application for membership in this organisation. Trade and Industry Ministry officials have said that all technical preparations have been made and that it is political decision to deposit demand in the WTO Secretariat.
“The Ministry of Trade and Industry from last year has started preparations for WTO membership, with the document originally prepared for the so-called” Memorandum on Foreign Trade Regiment” a document outlining the trade and economic policies of a country which aspires to become a member of WTO”, explained the head of the Trade Department within the Ministry of Trade and Industry, Sytrime Dervisol.
