The leader of the National Democratic Party in Austria has stressed that Kosovo should not be compared to Catalonia and that dialogue with Pristina should continue, as progress in this dialogue is of great importance to Serbia's EU path.
He in an interview for Tanjug has added that he sees no added value in this and that the Catalonan referendum on the issue of Spain's internal independence is the issue that must be resolved under the Spanish Constitution.
Kurz has not chosen to respond directly to the question of whether Serbia prior to EU membership will have to recognise Kosovo's independence, but has stressed that the EU has consistently suggested that dialogue between Pristina and Belgrade is of great importance to Serbia's EU path.
Also talking about the Serb community. He stressed that integration is a major challenge for our time.
Successful “Integration can positively contribute to the social unity and economic success of the country. It doesn't matter where it comes from, but what kind of contribution people are willing to make to Austria. Migrants from former Yugoslav territory feel different from other immigrant communities, often in Austria feel at home. This is a very successful indicator and means that they support the values of our society and contribute to a coexistence in Austria”, Kurz said.
Kurz has won more than 31.5 per cent of the vote, which is 6.5% more than four years ago.
