Usually ambassadors, and diplomats in general, are people who think long before they say nothing. I read their role and tradition that defines this ancient function in relations between states

The opposite happens to us. Ambassadors are frank, even Albanian.

There are some famous names of Albanian criminals, such as convicted drug traffickers Emilyano Shullazi, for whom the media claims it continues to commit drug and arms trafficking from detention cell. Or Lul Berisha, the leader of Durres' violent gang, who was mistakenly released early by prison officials. This led to the arrest of the prison director and lawyer, but mysteriously, Lul Berisha remains at large. And finally, US Wizard Clement Balili, an international drug dealer wanted by Greece and the Anti-Derrog Implementation Agency (DEA), but has managed to evade Albanian justice for 18 months due to the inability of prosecutors, police and the Ministry of Justice. There are many Sulaza, Lul Berisha and Clement Balilla others in Albania. Ask any police officer and he or she will show another dozen of the perpetrators who deserve to be in jail. How will powerful organised crime leaders defeat?” That's what Lou, Albanian, spoke for sure.

I'm not saying that the U.S. ambassador's statement came late, but maybe Godot himself would have said: Finally!

Not that he hadn't spoken before. Not that he had not articulated those names that make men, women, and institutions of this state tremble. Not that Pentecost made it rhyme with the opposition leader. But because those statements, with ours, in a slightly more courageous perspective, are similar to a mea clan.

Yes, Lu changed the way he was “was using” with his stances because he is at a critical moment of office in Albania; as he is not only aware that the interdependence between politics and organised crime does not coincide with the status of NATO member we enjoy, but also because it has happened during his mandate.

For what the United States of America represents strategically and geopolitically; for that role that we, citizens and politicians, give the men who come here wearing visas and stars; the yankee are not only representatives of a state, but responsible for a rule in which Albania should stand, and that depends not only on us but also on Lou as the employee of the American administration.

When Lu's mandate ends this December, and he's going to have to make a balance on years of duty exercised in this country, what American Ambassador to his superiors will say at the State Department when the questions arise: Where were you when Albania was run? Where were you when Albania returned to a territory where organised crime thrives? Where were you when the battle for the Justice Reformation roamed the swamps of Albanian politics?

Of course, the American ambassador is not the direct responsibility of these phenomena, but his task and role require that he be not at all diplomatic if during his term there is a degradation of news and security.

Donald Lou has realized that he cannot trust those who fight in a hole with that day and seek support from criminal clans at night.

Where were you, Mr. Lou?

This question concerns the American ambassador and the inability to give a response to his duty causes these public scourges against politicians, judges, prosecutors and policemen.

At that, it seems that in his last three months at the street headquarters of Elbasan, the ambassador will maintain the missed positions in the past three years; if they did, it would be a hopeful message, especially for the city's inhabitants, to whom that road leads.
