KDI urges Haxhi to set the date of the constitutional session as soon as possible

This institute has recalled the constitutional deadlines that flow for the institution of the new Parliament legislature following the Certificate of final results of the June 7th elections.

KDI estimates that the 30-day <x0 minimum provides the maximum constitutional deadline for completion of this process and should not be transformed into a period of expectation, uncertainty and lack of functioning of the Assembly”.

“Although the constitutional deadline has not yet been completed, the incumbent has institutional responsibilities to avoid any unnecessary delay and ensure that the process of the constitution is initiated in time and in accordance with public interest. Especially after a prolonged period of functioning with institutions in office, Kosovo needs full-term institutions capable of exercising their constitutional responsibilities and responding to the needs of citizens. The experience of previous institutions' constitutionalisation processes has shown that unnecessary delays and the lack of timely exercise of institutional responsibilities can create blockades and undermine the normal functioning of the state”, KDI has said.

The Kosovo Democratic Institute has asked the U.D. President Haxhiu, who, “after completing consultations with parliamentary political subjects, set the date of the constitutional session as soon as possible, in a deadline allowing for completion of the process in time and avoid unnecessary access to the constitutional border of August 7th”.

“calls publicly on parliamentary political subjects to participate fully and constructively, so that the session will end with the constitution's institution, and not only will a formal procedure act remain without the full functioning of the highest citizen body”.

“informs the public within 48 hours, how long the consultations will end and when the date of the constitutional session is expected to be made public”. / Periscopi/
