Serious work conditions, Inspectorate closes 6 construction sites in two cities

During inspections, the IQP reports have been found to be serious violations of legal provisions, which presented serious risks to the life and health of workers.

Because of the lack of necessary security and health at work, the Central Labour Inspectorate has made the decision to halt the work immediately on six construction shipyards at Fushe Kosovo and three in Pristina until the complete elimination of all irregularities recorded”, the report notes.

The undertaken measures are aimed at preventing workplace accidents and ensuring safe conditions for all workers. Inspected subjects are obliged to take all necessary actions to meet legal requirements, while restarting the works will only be allowed after inspectors prove the risks have been eliminated and health and safety standards at work” have been met, the IQP says.

“The Central Labour Inspector remains committed to law enforcement and will continue intensive controls throughout the territory of the Republic of Kosovo, taking measures against any subject that violates the safety and health of workers. At the same time, the Central Labour Inspectorate calls on all employers to respect legal provisions rigorously and ensure secure working conditions, since protection of life and workers' health remains an non-negotiable priority”, the announcement concludes. /Periscope/
