Big event in Germany: The bank employee gets stabbed, the author still inside the building

A major police operation has been conducted on Thursday afternoon in the western city of Regensburg after a person was stabbed inside a bank branch.
According to German authorities, the victim, a bank employee, lost his life in the hospital as a result of his injuries, reports German media.
The event occurred around 2:50, in a bank near the Renplatz Zentrum area. After the alarm, dozens of police patrols blocked the “path Stromerstrate”, while heavy armed forces, a police helicopter, emergency teams, and psychologists were also engaged in the event.
According to police, the alleged author, a man armed with a knife, is believed to still be inside the bank. Authorities stress that so far it is a single author, while the motive for the attack remains unclear.
Based on media reports, the victim managed to exit the heavily injured building and was rushed to the hospital, but failed to survive the injuries. Two other bank employees were reportedly barricaded in a room inside the facility. Later, police confirmed that two people were evacuated from the building.
Authorities have not yet been able to locate the author inside the bank. For this reason, it is not known whether another person is still in the facility or whether it is a hostage situation.
A police spokesman said he cannot yet be confirmed if the case concerns a kidnapping, though it remains one of the tracks being investigated.
The police negotiating group has tried to establish contact with the suspect, but so far without results. No requests or claims have been filed by the author.
The bank is located on the ground floor of a large residential complex, while apartments are located on the upper floors. The police operation follows, while the area remains surrounded for security reasons. /Periscope/
