“juha Albanian is not negotiated”, students protest in front of northern Macedonia Embassy in Kosovo

With KLA flags and banner inscriptions “Education in Albanian is correct, no privilege”, “juha Albanian is not negotiated” and “From Pristina to Skopje, Albanian never fails”, Pristina University students and other citizens have held peaceful protests before the North Macedonia Embassy in Pristina.
Through this protest, they have voiced opposition to the denial of the right of Albanian students in Northern Macedonia to undergo Albanian-language jurisdictional exam, reports EO, broadcast Periscope
The head of the Student Council of the Faculty of Jurydic at Pristina University “hasan Pristina”, Aolta Bajrami, said students have gathered to support a right stemming from law and not political will.
With deep concern we are following recent developments in denying the right to submit to the Albanian students' jurisdictional exam in northern Macedonia. We are gathered here today, as student representatives, to express our solidarity about the denial of a right stemming from the law and does not stem from the political will of any political party. In 2026 the submission of the Albanian - language law test is still under question. I consider that and we as students consider that students have the right to undergo tests in the language that they know best”, she said.
Representatives from the University “Uktin Hoti” in Prizren, Dillesa Perteshi, said the protest aimed at protecting Albanian as the fundamental right.
This is exactly why we are gathered today, so that the Albanian language is not denied and not treated as a privilege because Albanian is not a privilege, it is everyone's right. And we're here and not by chance today, I have with me the flag of the Kosovo Liberation Army, for the market clearly, and for a message, to send their allegiances to the country that have protected Albanian lands, Albanian, Albanian, and we as students are here today with a clear message. We're here to defend Albanian”, she said.
University of Pristina student “hasan Pristina” and deputy in the Student Parliament Granit Spahiu, said the protester's demand is only related to the right to be subjected to the exam in the mother tongue.
“We, as protesters today, ask for nothing more; we seek no great privilege; we seek only the right of Albanians to submit a test of jurisdiction in their native language. The language they best understand and have in their mother's tongue. Very well we know the story of how Albanians from Macedonia, our brothers have come to the University of Pristina, carried out the faculty and gone and led important processes in their state”, he said.
While Donart Humolli from the University of Pristina Student Parliament said the protest was not against any people or state, but in support of equality and linguistic rights.
We are gathered here today, not to oppose a state, a people or a community. But to support a fundamental principle of any democratic society, the right to equal treatment and respect for language rights.
Language is not just a means of communication. It is part of each citizen's identity, dignity and opportunity to participate equally in public and professional life. The requirement that the jurisdictional exam and other exams be held in Albanian is not a requirement for privilege, but a requirement for equality. At the same time, there is a call for institutions that, through dialogue and understanding, find solutions that strengthen the trust between citizens and 48x0> institutions, he said.
A citizen from Kachanic, Shaban Qorri, said the state of Kosovo should support Albanians in northern Macedonia in protecting the Albanian language.
“Arsie, who is participating in support of these young men, and Albanian in Macedonia. But ours is that, the state of Kosovo should support these boys, that that Albanian language, those people are born there and they will die there, and we have to support them. Even the state, Rame with its government, and our own ones here, the government, are little for our Albanians, even for Kosovo”, he said.
Mass protests by Albanian students for the protection of Albanian language have been held in northern Macedonia last week. Protesters have sought the right to give the Albanian-language jurisdiction exam and full implementation of the Law on Use of Languages at all state levels. /Periscope
