Trump says there's no understanding with Putin about Donbas

US President Donald Trump has said there is no consensus between him and Vladimir Putin that Russia should take over the entire eastern region of Donbas of Ukraine as part of a peace agreement.
Russia's territorial demands have long remained the main obstacle to US-mediated peace talks aimed at ending the war, which has stalled in its fifth year, SkyNews reports.
Ukraine claims freezing the current front line is the most realistic basis for a ceasefire, while Russia insists Kiev forces should withdraw from parts of Donbas as a condition for any solution.

The regions of Luhansk and Donnetsk, which make up Donbass in eastern Ukraine, have been subjected to fierce fighting.
When asked if he and Putin had an agreement on Donbass, Trump simply said: “not”.
He also said he believes the war is coming to an end and that Moscow and Kiev are approaching a solution, echoing similar comments made days ago by Putin.
Asked about the possibility of traveling to Russia as part of diplomatic efforts, Trump said he would do “whatever it takes to broker a peace deal, adding that it is “approaching”.
