Lulzim Aliu: Energy strategy envisions coal removal by 2050

Member of PDK, Lulzim Aliu, has called on citizens to read"The Kosovo Republic's Energy Strategy 2022-2031", saying that this way each can create its own conviction for the future of the energy sector in Kosovo.
I beg you to read the 'Electron Strategy of the Republic of Kosovo 2022-2031' that was approved by the Government of Kosovo in 2022. In this way, without being influenced by anyone, you can find the truths and lies about Kosovo's future in the field of energy", Aliu wrote.
According to him, energy is national interest and energy security is one of the main elements of a state's independence. He emphasises that Kosovo has large reserves of coal and raises questions why, according to him, the Government has opposed building the"thermal power plant, Kosovo C".
Aliu says the Energy Strategy predicts that in 2031 there will be no more production from Kosovo A, while Kosovo B will be closed in 2050, adding that the official document envisions gradual removal of coal and its replacement with renewable energy sources.
He also claims that the Government has not allowed new production of energy by investors, local or foreign, and that the development of projects from alternative sources requires auction announcements.
"In the end, if you evaluate the situation objectively and without emotion, you will conclude that this Government will neither continue to have coal as the main source for energy production nor is it allowing production with other alternative sources", Ali has declared.
