Candidate interview for chief prosecutor begins, KKP: A key stage, same standards for each

The Kosovo Prosecutor's Council has launched the process of interviewing candidates for the position of chief state prosecutor.
The KKP said it is marking “an important stage of constitutional and legal procedure for selecting the highest authority of the prosecutorial system in the Republic of Kosovo”.
“Sic we have informed you earlier, in the function of ensuring a transparent, verifiable and equal process for each candidate, assessment panel, three hours before the start of interviews, has drafted standard interview questions in the presence of monitors from the ranks of international partners and civil society organisations. The assessment panel will interview today, Mr. At and Dema, prosecutor at the Department for Investigation of Terrorism at the Special Prosecutor of the Republic of Kosovo, Mr. Naim Abazi, prosecutor at the Department for Investigation of Corruption and Financial Crime in the Special Prosecutor of the Republic of Kosovo, Mr. Rafet Halimi, prosecutor at the Department for Investigation of Corruption and Financial Crime in the Special Prosecutor of the Republic of Kosovo, Mr. Albanian Fazliu, prosecutor at the Chief State Prosecutor's Office and Mr. Zejnullah Gashi, chief prosecutor of the Constitutional Prosecutorship in Pristina”, says the report.
During the interview, the KKP says that “each candidate will undergo the same standards of professional evaluation, based on criteria defined with legislation in force and relevant sub-legal acts”.
“In the quality of monitors, interviewing process is being followed by representatives of the European Union Office and O Mission The SEU in Kosovo, EULEX, EU4 FAST-WB, Kosovo Institute for Justice and Battle for Justice, Balkan Network for Investigative Journalism (BIRN), Group for Jury and Political Studies (GLPS), Network of Nongovernmental Organisations AV ONET, KDI and FOL” Movement, said the announcement.
The KPK says that with the conclusion of the interview phase, the assessment panel will continue “further evaluation procedures in accordance with legal provisions and sub-legal acts in force, until the completion of the selection process and presentation of the proposal for the appointment of the chief state prosecutor, in line with the competencies defined by law”.
Kosovo's “Prosecutorial Council will continue to inform the public opinion and media of the performance of this process until its completion, in the spirit of institutional responsibility and respect of the principles of the rule of law”, it is said at the end of the announcement. /Periscopi/
