Trump closes meeting for Iran at the White House without announcing a decision on agreement

US President Donald Trump held a meeting with his highest advisers Friday to get a <x0 final decision” regarding a framework for extending the ceasefire with Iran, but the meeting ended without any clarity on future steps.
He said Iran must accept that it never owns weapons or nuclear bomb, so that the Hormuz Strait will reopen for <x0.0 unencumbered shuttles in both directions” and that any mine placed on this “waterway will destroy”.
The meeting was held at the Chamber of Situations (Situation Room) at the White House, which is used to manage major crises. Earlier, Iran had declared that it was not negotiating its nuclear programme, which it insists has only civilian purposes, the BBC writes, broadcast Express.
On Thursday, according to American officials, the two countries had agreed to a framework agreement known as memorandum of understanding, pending approval by Trump and Iranian leadership.
The agreement would extend the ceasefire for 60 days and start talks on the future of Iran's nuclear programme.
President Trump will only make a deal that's good for America and respect its red lines. Iran could never have nuclear weapons”, said a White House official for CBS News.
Since the ceasefire's entry into force on April 8th, Trump has repeatedly suggested that the US and Iran are close to an agreement and that negotiations are progressing, but so far there has been no concrete results.
In a post on social networks Friday, Trump said he was ready to remove the American naval blockade in the Hormuz Strait, enabling ships trapped there “to start the home process”.
He also insisted that Iran allow the United States to evacuate and destroy the rich uranium it owns.
Later, a White House official confirmed to the BBC that the meeting in the Chamber of Situations was over. The official gave no more details.
