Court in Lipjan appoints former fighter Bekim Meta house arrest

The court in Lipjan rejected the prosecution's request for the appointment of the detention measure against former KLA veteran Bekim Meta, imposing on him the measure of house arrest.

His lawyer, Luan Tasholli, confirmed the news after the end of the court hearing.

“We have accepted the Constitutional Court's decision, respectively, of the judge of the preliminary procedure regarding the prosecution's request in terms of the extent of the detention. The same measure has been refused for my defense, Bekim Meta, and the house arrest measure has been set. From now on my protector will respect all legal obligations in relation to this measure”, Tasholli said.

The court's ruling was met with great interest by citizens and veterans gathered in front of the Constitutional Court facility, the Lipjan branch, where protesters for more than six hours remained pending, seeking justice for Bekim Meta, who, as they said, had intervened to divide the parties.

Three days ago in the village of Magure in Lipjan, a group of members of the Roma community allegedly attacked Skender Sahin in front of his home, as well as KLA war veteran Bekim Meta. /kp/
