What's a “rative thermal kupola” that is causing temperatures that are sweeping Europe

An unusual heat wave has swept through Western Europe, breaking temperatures and causing casualties. According to meteorologists, the main cause of extreme temperatures in Western Europe is the phenomenon known as “
The thermal dome is a large area of high atmospheric pressure that “passes” over a region and acts as a cap over the hot air (photo illustrative above).
It should be thought of as a pot cap. The hot air is locked down, descends to the ground, pressed, and heated even more. Meanwhile, high pressure prevents clouds and rainfall from forming, so the sun warms the earth daily without much interruption. This has increased temperatures to 10 to 15 degrees above the seasonal average, explains Lapsy.al.
Great Britain is facing an unprecedented situation, with 11 victims reported so far as a result of high temperatures.
In London the thermometer reached 35.1 °C, breaking records that remained for more than a century. The country is also experiencing successive tropical nights, with temperatures that do not drop below 20 °C.
In France, authorities have placed dozens of regions, including Paris, on orange alert.
So far, seven victims have been reported, while temperatures have reached 39 °C. Emergency measures have also been activated to limit traffic and pollution in the most affected areas.
Spain is also facing temperatures approaching or exceeding 40 °C, especially in Andalusia and the country's central regions.
In cities such as Seville, Cordoba, and Toledo, heat is remembering the peak of July summer.
Historical records are also recorded in Portugal, where the thermometer marked 40.3 °C, the highest temperature ever recorded for May.
Meanwhile, in Italy big cities such as Rome, Florence, Bologna, and Turin have been placed on red alert, with authorities warning of serious public health risks.
