(a month ago)Three Latvian climbers have died after falling to McKinley Mountain in Park and the Denali National Reserve in Alaska, while a fourth member of the team survived and survived, an alpine organisation from their homeland, Latvia, announced.
The US National Park Service reported that four climbers from a seven-member expedition fell on Wednesday near Denali Pass, which is about 640m below the 6,100m summit of McKinley, the highest peak in North America.
Survivor Saved from a mountainous pond to 5,400m high and later moved to a hospital transportation ambulance, the agency said.
“Operations for the three remaining climbers have gone from a search-saving mission to a rescue operation”, the National Parks Agency said in an online statement, adding that “does not publish information about the victims until 72 hours after the announcement of relatives”.
