Kosovo Minister of Foreign Affairs Glauk Konjufca, after meeting with counterpart from Albania Ferit Hoxha, has declared today that relations between Kosovo and Albania are characterised by close and ongoing institutional co-operation, stressing full co-ordination in foreign policy between the two countries.
During an official meeting with Albania's Foreign Minister Ferit Hoxha, Konjufca said meetings between the two sides are <x0 brotherhood, fair and permanent”, underlining that Kosovo and Albania share the same state and national goals.
Our options are always brotherly, first of all. Our meetings are regular and permanent. With the Albanian state, we have continued communication regarding our common state and national goals. Coordinating foreign policy between two states like Kosovo and Albania is the easiest thing because we represent the interests of the same nation, so our foreign policy is also a unique foreign policy. Strategic orientation has Western values and the Euro-Atlantic route is the definition of the Albanian nation, and our countries are always side-side. I take the opportunity to congratulate the minister on Albania's achievements in the integration process towards the European Union. Now, nowadays, the situation has changed from 10 years ago, precisely because of the major transformations of the Republic of Albania”, Konjufca said.
Konjufca also praised Albania's progress in the European integration process, praising Albanian authorities for their achievements so far. He said that according to estimates that, as he said, come also from European officials, Albania is close to membership in the European Union and could become part of it within two to three years.
All European officials and officials I am meeting are saying that Albania is the second in line for membership in the European Union. This is a huge achievement, Mr. Minister, I congratulate you too because for many years you've been there in the capital of the European Union and you've done your job the way it is. In these last steps, we are faithful that Albania will be a member of the European Union in two or three years. This will be a historic achievement not only for Albania, but for the entire Albanian nation, as we have welcomed even as a huge step was both Albania's entry into NATO”, Konjufca said.
