Ismaili Bridge: Oncology patients are being forced to buy drugs that cost thousands of euros

Democratic Party of Kosovo deputy leader and the number two on this party's list for the June 7th early parliamentary elections, Uran Ismaili, through a video published on social networks, has criticised the situation in the health sector, accusing the government of mismanagement and abuse of the public budget.
Ismaili said that in health, as he put it, “is being stolen in front of the eyes”, while patients continue to face lack of services and medicines. You know they're stealing your budget at the Ministry of Health? A crutch costing 20 euros is being bought 130 euros. A stick that is being bought 20 euros is being bought 100 euros. This is reality”, Ismaili said. He also mentioned the problems of providing medicine and treating patients with cancer, saying that they are facing serious difficulties in obtaining the necessary therapy. Oncology patients leave at 4 or 5 o'clock in the morning to get a number and provide chemotherapy. They are being forced to pay thousands of euros for the necessary drugs. The budget has increased in health, but services have not increased, companies have been empowered. This is reality”, he said. Ismaili has headed the Ministry of Health during 2017,2019. During his mandate, he has been mentioned in some reforms in the sector, including lowering the waiting list for seasons, changes in managing the list of essential drugs and measures to increase transparency in health.
