Confirmed sheep's leave in Suhareka, AUV with emergency measures across the country

The village of Delloc of the Suhareka municipality has confirmed the presence of infectious disease “the sheep/hive (Sheep Pox/Goat Pox)”, a disease that affects livestock and is considered dangerous for the livestock sector.
The news has been disclosed by the Kosovo Food and Veterinary Agency (AUV), which has announced that the confirmation is based on laboratory analyses conducted by its own institutions.
According to the official announcement, samples taken from the ground and analysed in the Food and Veterinary Laboratory have confirmed the presence of this disease on farms in the affected area.

The village of Delloc of Suhareka has confirmed the presence of the Lee of Sheep/Deve (Sheep Pox/ GoatPox)
Based on the results of diagnostic tests conducted by the Food and Veterinary Agency (AUV), the presence of the Dele/Deve Line (Sheep Pox/ Goat Pox on a sheep farm in the village of Delloc, the Suhareka municipality.
The captured and analysed samples in the Food and Veterinary Laboratory have confirmed the presence of this disease. Immediately after confirmation, AUV teams, in collaboration with private veterinarians and other relevants, have taken necessary measures to control the situation and prevent further spread of the disease.
Based on Law No. 2004/21 for Veterina, Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Rural Development through the Food and Veterinary Agency, set general measures for control, prevention and combating the Lee of Sheep/Decave (Sheep Pox/ GoatPox in Kosovo.
Measures apply throughout the territory of the Republic of Kosovo (dependent on situation may change)
I. General measures:
A) No moving of sheep and goats from farms, trading in markets and commerce;
b) Farms where the presence of the disease is confirmed, are placed in mass isolation/caterantine in full. No exit movement allowed.
c) Farmers who hold sheep and goats are assigned to report veterinarians for any change in animal health. Veterinary practices are obliged to apply veterinary health protocols to prevent and combat this disease
d) Farmers carrying sheep and goats activate biosecurity measures on their farms.
e) Determine location for dead animals' exhumation;
f) AUV continues with epidemiological research, taking samples and conducting laboratory tests;
2 / 1 Except for the point I make of the decision, animal movement is allowed from cheap farms to licensed slaughter, with the consent of the veterinarian inspector of the Food and Veterinary Agency.
3 / 1 All market managers are ordered from the moment this decision comes into force to suspend the trade of fine sheep and goats.
6 / 15 Kosovo Police, Communists are committed to co-ordination and co-operation with AUV to make oversight of the implementation of the measures.

What's Sheep Line Disease?
Handling sheep (also known as sheeppox/goatpox) is a highly contagious viral disease that affects sheep and goats. It is caused by a Capriposvirus virus and is one of the most serious diseases for these species, with great economic consequences.
Symptoms?
• High temperature (40–42°C)
• Loss of appetite and sluggishness
• nose and eyes leak
• Lesions (push, wounds) on the skin, especially on the head, ears, stomach, and about the genitals
• Breathing difficulties (if it affects lungs)
• In some cases: diarrhea and general weakening
How is it transmitted?
• Direct contact with infected animals
• Secrets (spits, nose leaks)
• Through the contaminated environment (stalls, tools, transportation)
This disease is not zoonotic, it's not a threat to human health and it's not transmitted from animal to human.
The AUV remains committed to monitoring the situation and implementing all previous measures for protecting animal health.
