A bus is involved in fires in Turkey, eight dead, including a baby

Eight people, including a nine-month-old baby, have lost their lives and about 33 others have been injured after a bus crashed and was subsequently engulfed by flames in Turkey.


The accident occurred Sunday morning in Denizli province, when the company's bus “Pamukkale Tourism” has crashed with highway barriers around 1:40 local time.

According to the AP, the bus was travelling from Izmir to the coastal city of Antalya and there were 38 passengers and three staff members on board.

Among the victims are the 50-year-old driver and baby's father, while authorities have confirmed that the number of injured is around 33 people.


Images from the scene have shown the burning remains of the bus near the road, following a serious crash.

The event took place on the last day of Kurban Bajrami, during which period in Turkey usually significantly increases the number of road accidents due to numerous tours of citizens for family visits and holidays.
