Fire at Abu Dhabi's nuclear power plant caused by 'dance attack'

A drone attack caused a fire near a nuclear plant in the United Arab Emirates (EBA), near Abu Dhababit, on Sunday, authorities said, reporting that there are no injuries or effects on radiation levels.
The"Authorities in Abu Dhabi responded to a fire incident that erupted in an electric generator outside the inner perimeter of the Barakah nuclear power plant in the Al Dhufra region, triggered by a panic attack", Abu Dhabi media office said.
"did not report injuries and had no impact on radiological security levels. All precautions have been taken and further updates will be provided once it becomes available", it posted to social media.
The Federal Authority for Nuclear Regulatory (FANR) confirmed that the fire did not affect the safety of the plant or the readiness of its core systems and that all units are functioning normally.
The plant began operations in 2020 and is located 200km west of Abu Dhabi, capital of the United Arab Emirates, near the borders of Saudi Arabia and Qatar.
It provides up to a quarter of the country's needs rich in oil for electricity, state operator Emiras Nuclear Energy Company said in 2024.
The United Arab Emirates were the second country in the region to build a nuclear power plant after Iran, and the first in the Arab world.
The statement did not say where the fears were launched, but the United Arab Emirates recently accused Iran of standing behind attacks on their energy and economic infrastructure.
Tehran launched revenge attacks across the region after the United States and Israel hit Iran on February 28th, killing senior leaders and triggering a broader war.
