A French shipping company ship CMA CGM has received warning hits on the Strait of Hormuz, in an incident that significantly increases tensions in one of the most important corridors of global trade.
The news was confirmed by the headquarters company itself in Marseille, which stressed that “the crew is secure”, while the event took place on Saturday.
Even the International Marriage Organisation (IMO) confirmed the incident, suggesting that the ship, a shipping container, has suffered injuries without providing further details.
Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump accused Iran of violating the ceasefire agreement, claiming Iranian forces have shot commercial ships at the Hormuz Strait, including French and British vehicles.
According to reports, commercial ships have faced threats and fires by Iranian forces as they tried to cross this key route, as Iran had again imposed restrictions on circulation after a brief opening period.
British maritime security authorities also reported several other incidents: an oil tank has been shot by Iranian Revolutionary Guard patrols, while another ship reported shelling near it in the waters near Oman. In a third case, a container ship was hit by an unknown object, suffering injuries in several containers.
Hormuz Strait remains a nerve point for global energy trade, and every incident in this area has the potential to directly affect international markets and regional security. /Panorama
