The storm has actually been closed by Iran for most of the war, but was briefly reopened yesterday before Iran changed its decision.
Any sustainable closure would affect the global oil market, with a fifth of the world's liquid oil and gas normally passing through the waterways.
Prices had dropped significantly after Iran announced the reopening of the Hormuz Strait and had been considerably lower since the two-week US-Iran ceasefire agreement entered into force.
But the world has already lost more than $50 billion of crude oil since the beginning of the war, according to Reuters news agency and analysts. /Periscope
