Additional security measures on eve of NATO summit in Ankara

Since today, Turkish authorities have stepped up security measures at the airport and around hotels in Ankara's capital, where leaders and delegations are expected to be accommodated before the 36th NATO Summit.
Police teams are located near hotels where foreign heads of state and government are expected to accommodate, as well as their delegations, while security barriers have been established at some points.
Security measures have also been strengthened around a hotel near the US Embassy in Ankara, where US President Donald Trump is expected to stay.
Police have set up checkpoints in the area around the hotel, while auto-bulance teams and fire departments will stand by.
As part of security measures, checkpoints have also been established around other hotel areas, where leaders and delegations are expected to be accommodated.
Emergency teams and firefighters are also on alert at those checkpoints.
A two-day summit of NATO will begin tomorrow in Ankara, where leaders of the 32 Alliance member states will be present.
According to Turkish authorities, during the summit, leaders will discuss strengthening NATO's prevention and protection capabilities, Euro-Atlantic security, increasing defence arrangements, future strategic goals of the Alliance, as well as regional and global security challenges.
The summit agenda will include war in Ukraine, as well as the development of the situation on the southern side of the Alliance./ Periscope.
