Dear friends, colleagues, family and patients,
I'm informing you that after five years in office, I've made a decision to resign from the post of Director of the Clinic of Nephrology.
This decision comes after a long period of efforts to exercise the task of professionalism, integrity and transparency, under circumstances marked by the lack of institutional co-operation with the leading structures of the SHKUK and CKUK, and by the constant pressures that have violated my professional independence and have managed to exercise the normal responsibilities that stem from this position.
I have been and remain convinced that any leading function should be exercised on the basis of law, professional ethics, institutional co-operation and mutual respect. When these principles are lacking and conditions are created that hinder the realisation of responsibilities in the interest of patients, staff, and institution, resignation becomes an act of responsibility and professional and personal integrity, and by no means withdrawing from responsibility.
Over the past five years, I have had the honor of leading the Nephrology Clinic with commitment, transparency and professional responsibility. I have managed to implement a number of projects and developments important to patients and the health system, which I isolate:
- The functioning of the Hemodialysis Centre in Rahovec, after many years of effort.
- The start of offering amhodialia services to Podujevo Polyklinika, facilitating access to treatment for many patients.
- The beginning of the measurement of immunosunpressive drugs, a service of particular importance to transplanted patients.
- In cooperation with Prof. Shemsedin Sadick, we were the initiators of the search for construction permits of the new Nephrology Clinic facility with Hemato-Oncology. This project, which is already in final phase.
- The beginning of therapeutic plasma service after a multi-year job and commitment. This service is already functional, however, yet no extenuating material and the staff's necessary training for other treatment modalities has been provided.
- Following constant demands and commitment to the provision of new haemodyalisisis, new equipment supply was realized during my mandate. And our patients today receive treatment in modern equipment in line with contemporary nephrology standards.
I feel a professional and moral obligation to inform the public opinion of projects that are in the final phase or pending realisation:
- The process for starting renal biopsy is almost complete. However, the full realisation of this service still depends on the provision of the extenuating material at the Institute of Pathology, which has not been in my competence, but the responsible institutions.
- The clinic has also been equipped with a microscope for testing the urinary seat. Unfortunately, not until now has the laboratory been provided for the processing of samples, which has been unable to function.
- The Hemodialysis Service renovation project is ready to begin. However, its implementation has remained pending the decision to shift patients during the working period.
- Also, the clinic is awaiting acceptance of the PrisMax Flex device, a donation which has been accepted by the directorate, but has not yet been delivered to the Naphology Clinic.
All these developments are the result of the joint work of the Embassy of Nephrology staff, who expressed my sincere gratitude and gratitude for my continued professionalism, commitment and support.
I am proud of all that we have achieved together and believe that these projects will continue until their full functioning, in the interest of Kosovo patients and health system.
