Mimoza Kusari-Lila has announced that the decision has been made to continue the safeguard clause for oil products used in transport, aimed at protecting consumers and maintaining fair competition in the market.
According to her, the decision was signed on April 3rd 2026, published in the Official Journal and entered into force on April 4th.
Based on current data, the maximum price of oil in the market should not exceed 1.91 euros per litre, while gas 1.44 euros per litre. Meanwhile, the maximum margin allowed for sale remains up to 2 cents per litre in majority and up to 12 cents per litre in the minority.
The minister stressed that there will be increased supervision by relevant institutions, including the Market Inspectorate, Customs and Tax Administration, in co-operation with the Competition Authority.
It called on economic operators to implement the decision, warning punitive measures for any offense, including retroactive penalties.
