The spokesman for this office, Nikola Gaon, has said that all sides should respect the Constitution and find the necessary compromise so that Kosovo can have stable institutions.
“The EU in Kosovo is closely following developments in the Assembly. It is the responsibility of all political actors to implement the Constitution of Kosovo, achieve the necessary compromise and ensure institutional stability in the interest of Kosovo citizens”, Gaon has declared for Express, broadcast Periscope.
He has also recalled last year's crisis and the appointment of 2025 as a missing year.
“Sic has said, the year 2025 was a lost year. It is in Kosovo's interest to speed up reforms and continue to progress on its EU integration path, also benefiting from all support provided by the EU. This support includes the Growth Plan (882.6m euros destined for Kosovo), which is a time-term instrument for the entire Western Balkans that will be implemented by the end of 2027, with specific deadlines for specific reforms the deadline for 13 reform steps is June 30th 2026. Further financing is also available through IPA programmes (216m euros) and W projects BIF (205m euros). Since these are based on agreements requiring ratification, both the functional Government and the Parliament must continue. ”, he added.
Gaon has said the EU is here to continue its support for Kosovo and that it needs institutional partners with whom it can co-operate. /Periscope
