He said the last time he visited the country was for the signing of a co-operation agreement in the mayor of Namur.
“This time, I am back in Kosovo as Minister of Foreign Affairs and it is a real pleasure”, he wrote.
He said there have been fruitful discussions with President Albulen Hadziu's incumbent, Prime Minister Albin Kurti and counterpart Glauk Konjufca.
My “My vision highlights Belgium's concrete engagement in and for Kosovo, including our contribution to security through KFOR which I visited and whose support I repeated and through projects carried out under the Council of Europe”.
The Belgian chief diplomat also cited co-operation in prison capacity after his country had expressed interest in taking the correct institutions into use in Kosovo. Belgium's interest had come last year following the agreement Kosovo struck with Denmark for the provision of Gjilan Prison to house Danish prisoners.
“Belgjika remains committed to strengthening bilateral political dialogue and deepening police and migration co-operation, as well as co-operation in the area of prison capacity”, Prevot wrote.
He also spoke of the current political situation, prompting it to find a solution for institutional stability.
“I encourage Kosovo to find a solution to the current institutional deadlock and work towards a rapid stabilisation of the domestic political situation, including continued attention to lower tensions, especially in the north. Kosovo's European road deserves our constant attention and support. It must be supported by reliable progress. I congratulate Kosovo's efforts in this regard. These efforts should now be recognised by the EU as a whole. Belgium will be a strong lawyer for this purpose”.
However, he argued that this European road should go together with “a re-angage” in the Kosovo-Serbia dialogue, as well as with the “tangible progress” in implementing the Brussels and Ohrid Accords.
This is essential for regional stability”.
“Ex: Belgium is and will remain a constant supporter of Kosovo's European perspective. Count on Belgium's engagement!”, he's done.
