In posting the US Embassy in Tirana, Whitaker and Nufin reportedly discussed Albania's ability to become a strategic joint of the North Atlantic Alliance.

Flying over Kucova Air Base, renovated through NATO funds, United States Ambassador to NATO Matthew Whitaker, and Defence Minister Ermal Nufi discussed Albania's ability to become a logistical NATO node in the region through investments in Corridor V III, as well as ways in which Albania can lead regional security to higher levels through increased spending in the field of defence.
Also, Whitaker himself, through a post at X, shared several moments from his current visit to Albania, where Albania's commitment to the Peace Board was discussed, and how Trump's goal of NATO countries can be achieved with 5% of the defence investment budget.
