US Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth said the United States has sunk an Iranian warship in the Indian Ocean.
“In the Indian Ocean, the United States sank an Iranian warship that thought it was safe in international waters. Instead, it was sunk by a cymbal (movable underwater arm)”, Hegseth said.
Earlier, Sri Lanka Navy reported that Iranian ship I RIS Dena drowned in the Indian Ocean, while about 140 people resulted in a total of 180 people believed to be on board.
So far there is no official confirmation of whether the ship Hegseth mentioned is the same as IRIS Dena, while the situation remains developing.
