LDK MP Hykmete Bajrami has reacted after publishing the European Parliament's draft report for Kosovo, saying 2025 was named lost “for the country because of the political crisis and institutional blockades. According to her, in “D RAFT REPORT on the 2025 Commission report on Kosovo (2025/2252(INI))”, published on March 6th. [...]
According to it, in “D RAFT REPORT on the 2025 Commission report on Kosovo (2025/2252(INI))”, published on March 6, 2026 by rapporteur Riho Terras at the European Parliament's Foreign Affairs Commission (AFET), notes that the year 2025 has been a period without progress for Kosovo.
“Viti 2025 was a lost year (lost year) for Kosovo, due to political paralysis following the February 2025 elections: Without a functional framework, without a full mandate of”, Bajrami wrote.
According to her, the report notes that this situation has negatively affected the reform processes and the country's European integration.
“According to the report, this situation blocked reforms, dialogue, EU funds and the Development Plan, there was lack of progress in rule of law, lack of media freedom (for 24 countries in the Media Freedom Index), lack in the fight against organised crime, and lack of reforms in public administration”, it said.
The MP also stresses that the report also cites Kosovo's decline in the global corruption index.
Kosovo has dropped 3 places in the global corruption index by 2025 compared to 2024. The report expresses great concern for limited progress in the fight against corruption in general and requires deep reforms in rule of law, because without reform European integration remains hostage”, she said.
According to Bajrami, the European Parliament has also expressed concern for recent political developments in the country, including the presidential election process.
It has also criticised the current political situation, saying that the institutional crisis is continuing even in 2026.
“After a lost year in 2025, the loss is continuing in 2026, Kosovo is with a suspended Assembly until March 31st and then, according to all odds, parliamentary elections because LVV wants them all for itself and nothing for Kosovo”, the MP has written.
In its response, Bajrami has also criticised Prime Minister Albin Kurti and Vetevendosje Movement, saying their approach is leading the country towards new elections.
This is not a democracy, this is a deliberate obstruction of institutions. ”
In the end, it has called for civic reflection and political responsibility.
So the time has come for real civic reflection, let's say stop the arrogance of political parties, what the state is considering to be toys of entertainment. No one, but no one has the right to abuse the trust of citizens”, Bajrami said.
