Increases for heavy vehicles, over 13 thousand euros fines for overload

Acting Minister of Infrastructure and Transport Dimal Basha has indicated that controls on heavy vehicles have been increased, aimed at protecting road infrastructure from damage caused by overload.
According to him, investments and maintenance of roads, financed by citizens' taxes, will not be allowed to be harmed by irresponsible economic operators or executives. He stressed that during summer season, high temperatures increase the risk of damage to asphalt, making law enforcement more necessary.
Only on July 1, 2026, during inspections were 24 violations of the means that exceeded the allowed weight. For these violations, fines of total value of 13,910 euros have been imposed on economic operators, while 770 euros on physical persons.
Basha has stressed that the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport will continue to implement the law rigorously, without tolerating violations that endanger safety in traffic and damage roads. It has called on economic operators and tool executives to respect the allowed weight limits so as to contribute to the preservation of road infrastructure built with public funds.
