“While this was the focus of the effort in no way in fact, it was never raised by the president or anyone else I was assured, and others were assured, that those responsible for this were ultimately part of the” list of targets, Hegseth told reporters.
Hegseth did not mention the individual's name, but said the operation took place Tuesday, reports Telegraph, broadcast Periscope.
In 2024, the US Department of Justice charged an Iranian man with a suspected conspiracy ordered by IRC to kill Trump, then president-elect of the US.
Tehran has denied allegations of targeting Trump and other American officials. /Periscope/
