DnV stresses that at this moment, when the country is facing developments that are expected to lead towards a new electoral process, and when March 11th as the legal deadline for this procedure is towards completion of the process of naming the new CEC becomes even more important.
“This is especially because current legislation no longer envisions the automatic continuation of the mandate of the existing CEC composition until the appointment of a cloud in case of elections as regulated by the previous” law.
“for this reason, DnV calls on the country's president and parliamentary subjects to undertake and close the necessary steps for the nomination and appointment of new CEC members”, says a Democracy report in Action.
“Any possible electoral process must find Kosovo with the electoral institutions consolidated, functional and with clear legal mandate, so that the election management is not associated with the dilemma for its legitimacy”.
