The ministry also reaffirmed Qatar's commitment to dialogue with Iran and called for the immediate interruption of any escalation action.

It expressed solidarity with Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates, Jordan and Bahrain, condemning violations of their sovereignty and stressing the importance of protecting regional stability.

Previous attacks targeted American interests across the region, with explosions reported at US bases in Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait and the United Arab Emirates.

Reports signal a sharp escalation and expansion of conflict following the co-ordinated US and Israeli attacks on Iran earlier Saturday.

Otherwise, the Defence Ministry said its air defence has successfully seized several missiles before they enter Qatar airspace, reports Telegraph, broadcast Periscope.

It was later confirmed that a third wave of attacks targeting numerous areas across the country was also seized, thanks to high readiness and co-ordination among security authorities.

The ministry stressed that the armed forces have full capacity to protect national security and to firmly respond to any external threats, as well as reaffirmed that the security situation remains stable and fully under control.

Authorities called on citizens and residents to remain calm and stay in safe places until further notice. /Periscope
