After meeting with the PDK chairman, Bedri Hamza, Kurti said the good news is that the PDK has decided to propose a candidate, and this naturally gives hope for the interesting race in next week”.
He warned we are heading towards a party race for president.
Kurti mentioned that the PDK has 22 deputies in the Assembly and that it needs even 8 deputies to collect the signatures needed to bring the proposal officially to the Assembly. For the extra 8 signatures he needs, he said it might help the LVV.
“They are the second weight subject in the Republic Assembly and no one can be close as if those that number 22 do 30, adding 8 signatures to the proposal that will be on the PDK's side. Let's see how this thing works now, but in the worst case, we can either help, or somebody else can help, so we can race, because you know that the Constitutional Court's act of law from more than a decade ago requires that there be a race... So I hope we have a race where names are known as soon as we can, he said.
For the president's election, at least 80 deputies are needed in the Assembly Hall. If in the first two rounds a candidate cannot get the necessary votes, 61 votes will suffice in the third round. /Periscope
