Edita Tahiri criticises Kurti's approach to dialogue with Serbia: Kosovo will take away

Former Kosovo chief negotiator in dialogue with Serbia Edita Tahiri has reacted after the recent meetings of Brussels Dialogue mediator Peter Sorensen with Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti and Serbia's president, Aleksandar Vucic.

Tahiri said that during these meetings, Vuciq has sought the formation of association, while Kurti has sought normalisation of relations with Serbia, rather than mutual recognition between the two states.

“Vucciciqi demanded Asociation, Kurti called for normalisation of relations with Serbia, instead of seeking mutual recognition between the two states, Kosovo and Serbia”, Tahiri wrote.

According to her, this approach of the prime minister risks putting Kosovo in a unfavourable position in relation to international pressure.

With this approach of Kurt, diplomacy will pressure Kosovo for association, while it will not pressure Serbia for mutual recognition”, she stressed.

Tahiri added that mutual recognition has been supported by former US President Donald Trump and earlier by Joe Biden.

“Diplomacy is negotiation, but with the lack of knowledge of Kurti Government, Kosovo will suffer from”, Tahiri concluded in her response./Periscopi/
