The British Embassy seeks reintegration of Serbs to the justice system: We're worried about developments this week.

Referring to the decision of Kosovo President Albulen Hadziu's taskman, who decreed the release from the duties of seven Serbian prosecutors, the embassy stressed that the mass resignations of judges, prosecutors and administrative staff in 2022 had been considered a step backwards.

The United Kingdom welcomed the 2015 Justice Agreement, which integrated Kosovo's northern structures into the legal framework of Kosovo, while simultaneously guaranteeing considerable representation for Kosovo Serbs, and considered the massive resignations of judges, prosecutors and administrative staff in 2022 as a step backwards, damaging the interests of Kosovo citizens”, said in a British Embassy post on Facebook.

The British Embassy says that with the reintegration of Serbs into the justice system, public confidence in the country's institutions is strengthened.

“We have welcomed the long-standing response of the respective professional organs, which have recognised the importance of maintaining the trust of all communities in Kosovo towards the justice system, and therefore we are concerned by developments this week. We call for the integration of Kosovo's multiethnic population into the justice system in order to strengthen public confidence in the institutions of rule of law in Kosovo”.
