IKD: Use of Public Money for Election Benefit, Assigned as Criminal Work

Naim Jakaj, senior researcher at the Kosovo Institute for Justice (IKD), said at the legislative initiative that has begun The IKD for meeting/changing the Penal Code is proposed that public money use for electoral gain be sanctioned as a criminal act.
Through this initiative, the IKD aims: to determine criminal responsibility for failing to implement Constitutional Court decisions, and to sanction the use of public money for electoral benefit during election and pre-election periods.
At the start of signing the signing of this legislative initiative, Jakaj said that on two sides the last elections we have seen public media sharing decisions just days before the vote.
Andja, Jakaj said public money should be used for public interest, not party or electoral interests.
These actions rightly freeze doubts and public debate whether the state budget is being used for social policy or for electoral benefit. Democracy should leave no room for such doubts. Public money is of citizens, it should be used for public interest, not party or electoral interests”, he stressed.
So for this reason, the researcher said IKD proposes that public money use for electoral benefit be sanctioned as a criminal act. /Betimy for Justice
