Vjosa Osmani, Murat Jashari and Glauk Konjufca are three names, which have since been mentioned as candidates for Kosovo president. But this issue has started to be viewed “drite at the end of the” tunnel, as Konjufca clarified today that he will not be a candidate for the head of state. Thus, two names in the race remain Vjosa Osmani and a name from the Jashari family, writes Periscopi.

Following meetings that Vetevendosje chairman Albin Kurti held with Bedri Hamza of the PDK and Lumir Abdjik of LDK, Kurti stressed that neither his party nor the LDK nor the Democratic Party of Kosovo have a candidate for the president.

So we as a party have not had a candidate from our ranks so we have to either find a name that guarantees to be at least two-thirds of the deputies who stay in the hall and vote by choosing a proper name in the ballot that they place in the box, the most distant of March 4. Or it is other that political subjects agree on the road before”, Kurti said.

And among the many reports that a name from the Jasharean family may be Vetevendosje's option for president, Kurti admitted to going to Prekaz where he met with Rifat Jashar.

On the other hand, Glakuk Konjufca confirmed today that he is not a candidate for president, stressing that members of the Jashar family are the only names that have caused positive “”.

“This is a consensus of political parties. So far the only names that have automatically caused a positive reception, an automatic consensus in our society, is a president from the Jashari” family ranks, he said.

Vjosa Osmani targets another mandate: If you don't love me as president, I'll be facing politics.

Kosovo President Vjosa Osmani has confirmed that she is also targeting a mandate at the head of state, while she expires her mandate as the country's first in April of this year.

“Now, I think Kosovo needs a continuation of good jobs. Consequently, this issue will now be in the hands of deputies from the Republic of Kosovo”, Osmani told the REL.

However, if political subjects fail to make the quorum and votes for its re-election at the top of the country, Osmani had warned the parties that they will meet in elections with him.

The “ultimately is in the will of the deputies, who decide whether to support me or not, and I'm saying again, if they decide yes, we'll continue with good jobs for the country, protect the interests of the citizens, if they decide that they don't, then I go on working in another way, through political engagement and whenever there is elections, then we'll face ideas, notions, attitudes, energy and everything else. But my goal is to continue to be politically engaged and to help the Republic of Kosovo move ahead of“, Osmani had said in Klan Kosova.

Popeless Opposition Parties for President

Chairman The PDK's Bedri Hamza and LDK's Lumir Abdixhiku after meetings with Albin Kurti have said they do not have any concrete name for Kosovo president.

Hamza expressed readiness for parliamentary co-ordination for, as he said, issues of state and national interest, while Obadiah requested either political agreement or consensus.

On the other hand, Alliance for the Future of Kosovo Chairman (AAK) Ramush Haradinaj, has said he would examine the president's position, if other opposition parties had access, but, according to him, they have been uninterested.

At least 30 deputies' signatures must be provided for each candidacy.

Kurti has 57 seats in the Kosovo Assembly, while at least 80 total votes are needed for the president's election.

If in the first two rounds of voting a candidate does not secure 80 votes, then the third vote will suffice to have 61 Sosh.
