Kaya Kallas compares Trump to Putin to the threat of Greenland

The EU will maintain its position on Greenland, said Kaya Kallas, the bloc's high representative for foreign affairs, which co-ordinates the diplomacy of member states.

No country has the right to invade another's territory, nor in Ukraine, nor in Greenland”, Kallas told delegates in the European Parliament.

Donald Trump's threat to set tariffs to eight countries that rejected it for Greenland undermined the prosperity of both the EU and the US”, she added.

Kallas's comments reflected a statement she made yesterday after meeting with Denmark's defence minister and Greenland's foreign minister yesterday over Trump's threats.

During the day, the president of the EU Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, who called Trump's threats “a mistake” and promised a “cloud security package to address security concerns in the region. /Periscopi/
