(an hour ago)The United States has acted as mediator in negotiations to end the war between Russia and Ukraine, but not much progress has been made over the past six months.
The recent tripartite talks, which ended in early February in Abu Dhabi, did not result in substantial agreements beyond prisoner exchanges and a commitment to hold additional talks.
Since then, US attention has shifted to its fight with Iran, which began on 28 February, reports BBCPeriscope broadcast.
However, Trump and Zelensky spoke at the NATO summit in Ankara, Turkey, on July 8th, and not only did the tone look positive, but Trump publicly pledged it would allow Ukraine to build its own interceptive Patriot missiles, which could help the country be protected from Russian missile attacks.
Zelensky also spoke recently with US envoy Steve Whitoff and Jared Kouchner, about “to bring peace to”, the Ukrainian president said in a post on social networks.
