In some messages on social networks, some women were represented as <x0).

Montenegrin police have declared that there is no official information on such cases and there have been no reports showing the illegal involvement of mediators.

According to Montenegro's Penal Code, trafficking of people and exploitation for married purposes are considered only in cases of obligation, threat, fraud or exploitation, writes The liner.me.

According to data from several municipalities, 16 marriages between Montenegrin citizens and Albanian citizens have been registered within the past two years, with the largest number in Ulcinj. It is not known, however, whether these marriages are under illegal conditions or under some form of exploitation.

Women's Centre for Rights Director Maja Raichev has stressed that advertising where women are presented as goods is disturbing and stresses that the state has the obligation to prevent and punish any form of violence or exploitation in marriage. She adds that women should not be treated as objects and that the state should react to any indicators of illegal mediation.

The Vijesti newspaper has also recalled that in 2017 some men from Montenegro were deceived by people who claimed to organise marriages with Albanian women, demanding considerable payments for services that were not performed.

Despite these concerns, Montenegrin authorities insist that, until now, there are no concrete facts showing illegal mediation, but the alleged cases should be investigated and prosecuted by the competent prosecution if new indictments are presented. /Periscopi/
