Former Montenegrin President and Prime Minister Milo Djukanovic in an interview for Montenegrin media Antena M , has commented on the vote against Montenegro having on Kosovo in the KiE.
He says the move clearly shows the beginning of the removal of the European mask and the appearance of the true anti-Montenegrin face.
Asked whether Kosovo's accession to the Council of Europe and the Resolution for Srebrenica, which needs to be adopted to the UN, is the moment when at least part of the government will begin to remove the European mask, Djukanovic says the vote in KiE shows “that there is no true homogenisation among the creators and state policy performers in Montenegro”.
Moreover, neither of them cares for Montenegro's state interests. Because if they cared, and were interested in their coalition agreement, they would take care of the fact that Montenegro recognised Kosovo in 2008. And they would see to it that in the coalition agreement they have declared they will follow foreign policy priorities containing the state development strategy”, Djukanovic said.
He believes it would be wrong to expect from the West a <x0 rescue therapy to cure this political cancer currently burdening Montenegro.
Of course, some issues have already been reached where it is not that easy to bridge the core of someone anti-European and anti-Montenegrin”.
According to the former Montenegrin president, concern also remains the neglect that is taking place on Russia, which has promoted the most controversial policy in the region, nationalism and major state projects, respectively.
The Western Balkans are dealing with the same issues they dealt with in the 1990s. Protecting the supposed endangered members of nations outside the borders of countries of origin, thus destroying the sovereignty of neighbouring countries, undermining good neighbourly relations and essentially endangering stability -- that is, the European perspective of the region”
We remember that on March 27th, Maja Vukik, chairman of the Malaysian delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE), voted against the proposal that Kosovo become a member of the Council of Europe.
Vukicic is a member of the pro-Russian Democratic People's Party (DNP) in the Malaysian Parliament, simultaneously deputy of the former Democratic Front, whose agenda included attracting recognition of Kosovo's independence, lifting sanctions against Russia and leaving Montenegro by the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation (NATO).
Her party considers Kosovo part of Serbia, calling it a false “state” and a temporarily occupied “teriare”.
This party is part of the ruling majority in Montenegro since the change of government in 2020, when the Democratic Party of Socialists, which recognised Kosovo's independence in 2008.
