The dismissal of chief of investigations dealing with Berisha and Krasniqi is mentioned in the “Freedom House” report.

The annual report of 2023 of the international organisation “Freedom House” was mentioned in the dismissal of Shemsi Haziri, former head of the Special Unit of Investigation (former Task Force against Corruption) within Kosovo Police, the team leading investigations into Kosovo Ambassador to Croatia Martin Berisha and former head of the Kosovo Energy Corporation Nagip Krasniqi <2> In July, []...
In July, Kosovo Police Investigation Unit chief Shemsie Haziri was dismissed from office through a verbal announcement without detailed reasoning about the verdict. Haziri was known for leading the investigation against Kosovo Ambassador to Croatia Martin Berishaaj, and against KEK's former executive chief, Nagip Krasniqi, both linked to the Vetevendosje movement”, the report said.
According to the report, this decision on Haziri's dismissal was seen as a cause for concern, sending a negative signal to the opinion of Kosovo's commitment to fighting corruption.
The report also stresses that the battle against corruption remains a major challenge, until it is suggested that even though Kosovo is in the process of drafting a new anti-corruption strategy, its progress has faced numerous blockades, with Prime Minister Albin Kurti accusing the opposition.
“The Kurti Government faced a corruption scandal in 1923 involving uncountable state reserves, which are still under investigation. Concern has also sparked the departure of the chief of investigation on 8 July. Despite the campaign for an anti-corruption platform, Kurti government has demonstrated limited progress on this issue”.
