ASK ready for population registration, including diaspora

ASF Executive Director Avni Kastrati's task in the conference on opening the Field for Communications and Sansibisation for the census of Population, Family Economics and Trusts in Kosovo, said that only 27 days left since the census began.

He said this census will include diaspora.

The sensationalization campaign is preferred to take place just weeks before the census. We only have 27 days left of population registration. We caught the last train in 2024, since it was the pandemic. This year there are three countries in the world that will go on census, Georgia, Moldova and Kosovo. Other countries have, and some have not done so as Bosnia and Herzegovina is, as there are challenges. The AKS is ready to go on census”, he said.

Another Kastrati showed that the population census project is based on the Law for Population Recording and on two regulations. Kastrati said the questionnaire will soon become public for all citizens and will be online to see the questions.

The finalisation of many invaluable contributions has provided in addition to local institutions starting with the Government, ministries and agencies and international institutions. Two major meetings have been held all week, where over 200 institutions or their representation have been invited. The AKS has implemented international recommendations and has a consistency from last 2011 census due to the sustainability of questions. Three items to be recorded -- one is the population, family economies and all the dwellings, houses and physical objects that look on the ground”, Kastrati said.

Kastrati also stressed that the census will also take place for those living outside Kosovo, or diaspora.

Kastrati also said the preliminary data would be published only three months after the census was conducted.

“While final data will be published nine months after the census”, he said.
