Macron in the wish for 16th anniversary of independence, warns that coming weeks will be crucial for agreements with Serbia and Association

Macron has said he hopes Kosovo will make bold and necessary decisions.

The next “weeks will be crucial for implementing all provisions of the Brussels-Our agreement, including the establishment of the Association of Serb-run municipalities, which in particular includes organising new local elections with Serb participation. I hope so. Kosovo to make the bold decisions that are necessary and that will enable it to advance in its European trajectory”, the French president said. The maron has praised “the impressive progress made since independence, 16 years ago”.

He has added that Kosovo's country will be within the European Union and has encouraged reforms to continue to strengthen the rule of law and economic development of the country.

Praising that the challenges in 2024 are numerous because of the war in Ukraine and the Middle East, Macroni has declared that “in this highly uncertain international context, normalising relations between Serbia and Kosovo constitutes a prime challenge”.
