CNN: Netanyahu seeks emergency meeting with Trump amid mounting tensions over negotiations with Iran

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is seeking an emergency meeting with US President Donald Trump, an Israeli source said, amid what appears to be an increase of tensions over negotiations with Iran and a ceasefire with Hezbollah in Lebanon.
The source said Netanyahu is trying to organise a meeting after Trump returns from the G7 summit in Europe next weekend or shortly thereafter, CNN writes.
Trump rebuked Israel on Sunday after the Israeli army struck Beirut in response to Hezbollah's fire against northern Israel, saying the attack on Lebanese capital “should not have taken place”. He called Hezbollah's attack “very small and meaningless”.
The public clash contrasts strongly with the united front that both leaders publicly displayed at the beginning of the war with Iran, and is the latest in a series of apparent disputes, while Trump tried to end the hostilities. Trump has already limited Israel's freedom of action in Lebanon; he ordered Netanyah to cancel plans to attack Iran last week, after Tehran launched missiles on Israel for the first time since the April ceasefire.
According to the Israeli source, Netanyahu is seeking a meeting with the American president after he returns to the US from G7 to Europe to clarify and communicate Israel's positions in negotiations.
Israel is particularly concerned about preserving its freedom of action against Hezbollah in Lebanon, while Iran is demanding Israel's withdrawal, the source said. Israel also worries that the deal taking shape between the US and Iran will ease economic pressure on Tehran without affecting the nuclear issue -- a result that would stabilise the Iranian regime at a moment when Israel seeks to weaken it further.
