A person has fallen into handcuffs, three in the investigation, and several others have been declared in search following the violent protest held yesterday in Tirana by the opposition.
A series of Molotov bombs march towards the main institutions was the scenario of the opposition protest, which started in the square before the prime minister and for about three hours moved to several key points in the capital.
For the first time, the platform and political talks were avoided at the protest, and acts of civil disobedience were given priority. The government building was surrounded by numerous rule forces, when protesters threw Molotov, flares and fireworks, even setting trees on avenues on fire.
Police used tear stations to deter the crowd. Opposition deputies from there led the march towards Socialist Party headquarters. Along the way, protesters set a bus stop and several garbage bins on fire.
The same scenario was applied to the Socialist Party headquarters, where a series of Molotov bombs were launched toward the building and set fire banners on its front. The police again responded with tear gas.
The next stop was just a few metres away, near the ministry building and later in City Hall of Tirana, where the Molotov bombings also injured several police workers.
The march followed for several hours on the streets of the capital, where civil disobedience was translated into advertising glass breaks, and fire in the garbage bins. In the end, few in number of protesters stopped in the square in front of parliament. The scenario there was the same, and the response was also.
At least 10 police workers were injured by protest attacks, while authorities assured that they have taken all measures to identify, apprehend and escort persons involved in attacks on police and state institutions. /TCH
