In the announcement, published on page PE50, the discussion will reportedly be held Tuesday afternoon.
After the recent deadly clashes in northern Kosovo, the Eurodeputs will discuss relations between Belgrade and Pristina with the Commission and the Council on Tuesday afternoon. This week, the High Representative condemned in the harshest terms the attack on an armed gang against Kosovo Police officers in northern Kosovo on September 24th, which left a police officer and three assailants” dead, the report said.
It recalls how through two reports adopted in May of this year, the Eurodeputs asked Kosovo and Serbia to engage in the facilitated dialogue by the European Union and reach a legally binding, comprehensive agreement on normalisation of relations based on the principle of mutual recognition.
“In two reports adopted in May 2023, the Eurodeputs urged Serbia and Kosovo to engage in the EU facilitated dialogue and reach an inclusive, legally binding agreement on normalising relations between the two based on the principle of mutual recognition without delay. Serbia is an EU candidate country since 2012, and membership negotiations have begun in 2014. Kosovo has officially applied for EU membership in December 2022”, the EP's announcement concludes.
