Politcans of several Western countries have been addressed with a letter to the European Union, the United States of America, and Great Britain. They've been looking for Borrell, Blinken and Cleverly stronger access to Vuchy.
Serbia's “Tendents to prevent democratic elections in Kosovo must publicly be criticised as your First Interference, and concrete measures should be taken to hold Serbia responsible if it continues to jeopardise free and democratic elections”, said the letter to Josep Borrell, Anthony Blinken and James Cleverly.
According to Tagesspiegel, the letter was signed by the heads of the Bundestag Foreign Policy Committees, Michael Roth (SPD) and the US Senate, Bob Menandez, but also the heads of the British House of Commons and Parliaments of the Czech Republic, Ukraine, Ireland, Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania.
“We demand that the international community learn from our past and ensure that we do not follow Belgrade-based policies in the Balkans”, the letter says.
The current policies of the EU, the US and Great Britain -- with the aim of Serbia and Kosovo -- highlight “weaknesses in our common approach”.
Foreign politicians are calling for return to balance and proportionality in relations with Kosovo and Serbia.
“The lack of pressure on Serbia following the arbitrary arrest of three Kosovo police officers and failure to hold responsible for attacks on the NATO defence force KFOR, explains the current lack of impartiality in dealing with such problematic points”, Tagesspiegel writes.
Kosovo is a sovereign country and a functional democracy. This fact should be the basis of our common policy on the current crisis”, said on paper.
Tagesspiegel's article has been distributed by Michael Roth, who tweeted that they seek a more critical attitude towards Serbia and a more constructive policy towards Kosovo.
